The third pool is a hybrid of whirlpool and shallow water with submerged loungers. Some guests spend most of their vacation partially submerged with a drink in hand, in this pool. The Main Pool is closest to the ocean, and the action, with a swim-up bar. This is where organized activities like water aerobics take place, though it can be used for swimming and splashing as well. The Activity Pool is rectangular in shape with one infinity edge. There are three distinct swimming pools located on the patio overlooking the ocean at Secrets. Canopied day beds provide a private spot to relax on the lawns. Garden grounds are immaculately manicured with palm trees and flowering bushes. A semi-open air section of the lobby has wooden decks built over a shallow infinity edge pool and views of the ocean. There are plenty of places to sit inside on clusters of chic maroon or purple armchairs. Indoors, the spacious lobby includes high 3D ceilings, gray tiled walls, and a huge painting of a white unicorn and the purple sea. Guests enter through a security gate, then drive under an artistic white sail placed over a rock garden. Some restaurants and activities take place next door at family-friendly NOW Amber, where little ones have the run of the place. That, combined with organized activities like water aerobics, sand volleyball, and loud music, can force more mellow couples to hide out in the secluded spa for a little peace. Guests aren't required to wear wristbands.Secrets Vallarta Bay tends to draw groups of younger couples who spend the day drinking by the pool. The family-focused hotel doesn't see a lot of business travelers, but there is a business center, ballroom, and event spaces that are used for corporate events and weddings. Guests aren't required to wear wristbands. On-site shopping includes a jewelry store and boutique. Live shows, big screen movies, and theme nights are regular occurrences. Snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, and parasailing can be arranged for a fee. Guests get free green fees at nearby Vista Vallarta Club de Golf. Wi-Fi is free and dependable throughout the property. Little kids can spend the day doing fun supervised activities at the Explorer's Club while teens have their own dedicated space with Xbox, computers, foosball, and air hockey. There's also a salon for beauty services. The Now Spa by Pevonia (next door at Secrets) has over 14,000 square feet of indoor pools, saunas, steam rooms, and treatment rooms. The features at Now Amber Puerto Vallarta are focused on kids and families, with some nice extras for parents. With the extra cash comes preferred status, a private lounge, upgraded minibar service, and a suite upgrade. Guests can upgrade to the Preferred Club for VIP Packages (and in fact, will be aggressively encouraged to do so throughout their stay). Past guests have occasionally complained about humidity in the rooms. Soft robes and slippers are a nice touch. Bathtubs, dual bowl sinks, and separate walk-in showers are standard. Bathrooms have wooden sliding doors that can open up into the bedroom. Flat-screen TVs, free minibars, and free Wi-Fi are standard. Comfortable beds are topped with white striped duvets, plush sleeping pillows, and orange decorative pillows. Decor consists of light wood floors, white and orange walls, and chocolate brown upholstered furniture. Only two room types have garden views from the private balconies, as opposed to ocean views. There are eight different options, varying mostly in terms of square footage, view, and swim-out pool option. All 327 rooms at Now Amber Puerto Vallarta are suites.
